Our objective is to introduce the concept of recovery, education on drug/alcohol use, inspiration, motivation and life coaching to the students within the schools. I was inspired to create this foundation in memory of Natalie, a dear friend who died from a drug overdose. The public speeches, trainings and the workshops provided have manifested through the spirit of Natalie. My own personal triumph over mental illness, and recovery from addiction has inspired me to work with the young adult population. The speakers can vary in ages of 15 and up, depending on the topic or format of the workshop. The ultimate goal is to reach as many people as possible and make a lasting difference in their lives. Natalie Foundation will provide our youth with an opportunity that Natalie did not receive.
A curriculum developed that teaches many life skills and certain knowledge that is not taught within the average school curriculum. Each lesson was carefully studied and cross referenced with school districts statewide to ensure the content is not repeated. We discuss the developing adolescent brain, how drugs impact the brain, leadership skills, communication skills, bullying, sexual abuse, the IRS, taxes, and credit score. We are also in the process of publishing a book using the above named title. Workshops are given in a small group settings, a classroom setting, individual basis and large assembles.
I thank God every day for the freedom from my addiction and to endure the beautiful gift of recovery. And on those especially rough days, I look at Natalie’s picture and an old note she wrote to me in high school to remind me of where I came from. Natalie’s life and story encourage me to keep going and carry this message of recovery. I truly feel like she is guiding me through this mission. My vision is to use my triumph over drug addiction and my story to inspire others struggling; to positively transform their lives.
